Privacy Policy

Effective August 18, 2026 · Applies to the CHITRA Photography apps for macOS and iOS

The short version: your photos are yours. Everything except the AI features runs entirely on your device. We have no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking of any kind.

What stays on your device

All core tools — Auto Enhance, Upscale, Crop, Split, Select & Copy, Score, Saliency and the object-detection step of Remove — run locally using Apple's on-device frameworks. Images processed with these tools never leave your Mac, and they work fully offline.

What the AI features send, and where

The AI features (Correct Colors, Make It Stunning, Custom Enhance, and the fill step of Remove) are processed by OpenAI. When you use one of these features, the current image — and, for Remove, a mask of the selected region; for Custom Enhance, the text you typed — is transmitted securely (HTTPS) through our relay at api.chitraphotography.com to OpenAI, which returns the edited image.

Our relay passes your image through to OpenAI and back; it never stores your images or prompts. The only thing it keeps is an anonymous daily usage count per app installation, used for fair-use limits and deleted within 48 hours.
Per OpenAI's API data policy, API content is not used to train their models and may be retained by OpenAI for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
Nothing is sent anywhere unless you explicitly invoke an AI feature.

Purchases and credits

Subscriptions and credit packs are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never see your payment details. Your credit balance is stored locally in your device's Keychain.

Data we collect about you

Essentially none. The app has no user accounts, collects no analytics, and contains no third-party SDKs for tracking or advertising. The only identifier is a random installation ID (not linked to you or your device hardware) sent with AI requests to enforce fair-use limits.

Children

CHITRA Photography is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with an updated effective date.
