Answers to common questions — and a human to write to when they're not enough.

Getting started

How do I edit a photo?

Drop any image onto the CHITRA window (or press ⌘O). Then pick a tool from the toolbar: Enhance, Upscale, Extend, Remove, Crop, Select, Split, Score or Saliency. Hold Space at any time to compare with the original; ⌘Z undoes any step, and Edit → Revert to Original takes you all the way back.

How does Remove work?

Click the eraser tool (⌘R), then click the person or object you want gone. CHITRA outlines it instantly on your Mac; press Return and AI rebuilds the background behind it. Click elsewhere to change the target, Esc to cancel.

How do I zoom?

Pinch with two fingers to zoom up to 8×, scroll with two fingers to pan, and double-click to zoom into a point — double-click again to fit.

Credits & purchases

What are AI credits?

Each AI edit (Remove, Correct Colors, Make It Stunning, Custom Enhance) uses one credit, and a credit is only spent when the edit succeeds. Everyone gets 5 free credits every month. Need more? Buy a pack (25 for $4.99, 60 for $9.99) or subscribe to CHITRA Pro ($2.99/month) for 25 credits monthly plus 4× upscaling. Your balance is the ◆ counter in the toolbar.

How do refunds work?

All purchases are handled by Apple. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple ID you used to buy.

How do I cancel CHITRA Pro?

System Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions (or the App Store app → your account → Subscriptions), select CHITRA Pro and cancel. You keep the remaining credits you've already received.

Troubleshooting

An AI edit failed or never finishes
"No object found there" when using Remove

Click directly on the person or object — solid, clearly visible subjects work best. Very small or heavily blurred objects may not be detected.

The app asks for a Keychain permission

CHITRA stores your credit balance securely in the macOS Keychain. Click "Always Allow" — this is a one-time system prompt.
