Terms of Use

Effective August 19, 2026 · Applies to the CHITRA Photography apps for macOS and iOS

The short version: use CHITRA for any photos you have the right to edit. Purchases are handled by Apple under their standard terms. Magic edits are best-effort AI results — a credit is only spent when an edit succeeds.

1. Agreement

By downloading or using the CHITRA Photography apps ("CHITRA", "the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use and to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to all apps distributed through the App Store. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CHITRA on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the source code of the app except where the law permits.

3. Your content

Your photos remain entirely yours. CHITRA claims no ownership of, or rights to, any image you open, edit, or export. You are responsible for making sure you have the necessary rights to the images you edit, and for how you use the results.

4. Magic edits (AI features)

Features such as Remove, Correct Colors, Make It Stunning and Custom Enhance send the current photo securely to our relay for processing by an AI image model, then return the result. Photos are processed transiently and are not stored — see our Privacy Policy.
AI results are generated content and may occasionally be imperfect. You can always compare with the original (hold Space) and undo any edit.
One magic edit uses one credit. A credit is only deducted when the edit completes successfully.
You agree not to use magic edits to create content that is unlawful, deceptive, or infringes the rights of others.

5. Credits, packs and CHITRA Pro

Free allowance: every user receives 5 free credits each calendar month. Unused free credits carry over as part of your balance.
Credit packs (25 for $4.99, 60 for $9.99) are one-time purchases. Purchased credits never expire.
CHITRA Pro ($2.99/month) is an auto-renewing subscription that adds 25 fresh credits every month, 4× upscaling and canvas Extend. It renews automatically until canceled. Payment is charged to your Apple ID; you can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store subscription settings, at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
All payments are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple under their policies — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Credits have no cash value, are tied to your Apple ID via iCloud, and cannot be transferred or exchanged.

6. Fair use

To keep the service fast and affordable for everyone, magic edits are subject to reasonable per-device daily limits. We may adjust these limits, prices, or the monthly free allowance for future periods; already-purchased credits are never taken away.

7. Availability

On-device tools (crop, split, score, saliency, upscale, export and more) work offline, always. Magic edits require an internet connection and depend on third-party AI providers; we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the online features.

8. Disclaimer and liability

CHITRA is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
